Does anyone happen to know what the MDAC version is that comes installed with the new Vista OS build? Service Pack 2 for XP came with version 2.81 (XP was 2.8). Are they keeping 2.81 for Vista or did they update? The regkey to find the currently installed version for XP is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataAccess (FullInstallVer)... not sure if this is the same for Vista. I do not have the new build for Vista and would like to find out... so if someone who has recently performed a clean install of Vista could check for me I would appreciate it!

MDAC Version
Its looks like its not installed: F:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ado
There is a HTML link here that links to downloading version 2.7 -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Andre, Could you check the registry (FullInstallVer key) in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataAccess, thanks!

The FullInstallVer not Full21Install. Should say something like '2.81.1117.0' (which is XP - SP2 MDAC version).

Looks like the version information is incorrect as in all other driver version numbers stated in another post ("Back to the future?"). All versions look like they are set to '6.0.5038.17'. Even MDAC... which is highly unlikely Microsoft would go from 2.8 to 6.0. The way to find the currently installed MDAC version is to do the following: 1. Start/Run 2. Type 'regedit' and click Enter 3. Browse to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataAccess 4. Find the Data for the key FullInstallVer

I do not have the newest build of Vista and would like to know if anyone could tell me the value in the registry key (FullInstallVer) in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DataAccess for the MDAC version installed with Vista? I would like to know if Microsoft installed a newer MDAC version (newer than 2.81). Thanks!

6.0??? That seems like quite a jump from 2.8. Thanks for checking!

Well, it would not be surprising, Windows Installer in Vista is version 6.0, they want to sync up all the version numbers for applications and components I guess. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm
